The beginning of the school season, and our students at TAS are embarking on a new semester with a fresh outlook. 在语文学科方面,我们确立了“读览古今更言新语,妙笔生花抒写世界”的学科目标,开设了各年级语文特色课程,并在每一周的语文课里,专设了一节“阅读与表达”课,旨在专时专用,让学生充分进行阅读,进行表达,实现培养“优秀的阅读者,自信的表达者”的语文学科核心素养。

In the field of Chinese language studies, we have set the objective of "Exploring the wisdom of the past and present to express new perspectives with eloquence." We have introduced unique Chinese language courses for each grade and have dedicated a weekly session in every Chinese class to "Reading and Expression." This dedicated time allows our students to engage fully in reading and articulation, aiming to cultivate the core competencies of becoming excellent readers and confident communicators in the Chinese language.

Starting this academic month, we are launching the “TAS Reading Stars" recognition program. Each student is encouraged to read two classic literary works every month, document their insights, and share them through class presentations. This qualifies them for the title of “TAS Reading Stars." We eagerly anticipate that every Transformation Academy student will have the opportunity to shine as a “TAS Reading Star.”

课堂是高品质教育的主阵地,课外我们也努力促进孩子们养成良好的阅读习惯。每天早晨,孩子们到学校后,会自觉在图书馆阅读;每天下午,放学时,在图书馆等候的孩子也会阅读、做作业、交流等。良好的学习习惯,孩子们美好的学习情形,在更新校园里无处不在、无处不见。

The classroom is the primary battleground for high-quality education, but outside of class, we also make efforts to instill good reading habits in our children. Every morning, after arriving at school, the children voluntarily engage in reading activities in the library. Every afternoon, when school is dismissed, the children waiting in the library also read, do homework, and interact with one another. These good study habits and the positive learning environment are omnipresent and visible throughout TAS campus.

教书育人,育人教书。老师们不仅醉心于课堂教学水平的提高,更关注班级里每一个孩子的良好行为习惯,以及良好班风班貌的形成。在更新育人“责任、服务、影响、卓越”价值观的引领下,我们确立了更新的育人目标“博爱、善学、创新、尚美”。围绕目标我们各班级每周开展“更新气质之星”的评比,每月学校进行全校“更新气质之星”的表彰。以此,培育每一个更新的孩子都能具备“友善责任、爱己爱人,乐学善思、笃行致远,好奇探索、专研创新,健康赏美、悦己达人”的“博爱、善学、创新、尚美”美好气质,成长为更优秀的人!

Teaching and nurturing, nurturing and teaching – our teachers are not only deeply committed to improving classroom teaching standards but also to fostering good behavior and a positive class atmosphere for each and every child. Guided by the values of "Responsibility, Servanthood, Impact, Excellence" at Transformation Academy, we have established the nurturing goal of "Compassion, Scholarship, Innovation, Aesthetics." To support this goal, we conduct a weekly competition in each class called “TAS Attribute Star," and every month, the school holds an all-school recognition ceremony for the “TAS Attribute Star.” In doing so, we aim to cultivate in every TAS student the wonderful qualities of "Friendliness and Responsibility, Self-Love and Love for Others, Enthusiasm for Learning and Critical Thinking, Dedication to Excellence, Curiosity and Exploration, Specialized Research and Innovation, Health and Appreciation of Beauty, and Self-fulfillment." These qualities reflect our values of "Compassion, Scholarship, Innovation, Aesthetics," nurturing them to grow into even more outstanding individuals.

因此,我们也在每周举行班主任周例会,对每位班主任进行全面的培训,全面提升班主任的班级管理和育人水平。唯有每个班级都形成了良好的班风班貌,才有学校优良的校风校貌。

As a result, we also conduct weekly homeroom teacher meetings, providing comprehensive training for each homeroom teacher to enhance their classroom management and nurturing skills. It is only when each class forms a positive class culture and appearance that we can foster a strong overall school ethos and image.

本月理综组工作亮点突出。一是开展了教师的继续教育培训,在赖杉老师的带领下进行分年级组轮流主持的学术活动。单周进行教学理论学习。老师们开展读书分享、教学常规互评,人人充分交流,让老师们的课堂行为更规范。双周的开展教师教学示范课。在评课议课中实现理论和实践的结合,结合信息平台的评分,让青年教师的成长可见,本月已有4位老师进行了组内展示,有效促进了教师教学水平的提升;二是积极推进以学生为中心的个性化课堂学习。小组合作学习在多数班级中逐渐呈现,老师们根据学生的认知发展,坚持对学生开展过程性的学习评估,努力让学生成为更好的学习者;三是老师们开展了特色的数学思维挑战课程。让学生会思考、会表达、会总结,充分满足不同思维层次孩子的学习需求,提升了学生的学习兴趣。老师们个性化、小组合作探究、分享交流的数学课堂,满足了不同层次的学生的学习需求,践行了更新高品质教育的理念。

The Integrated Science Department has showcased significant highlights in their work this month. Firstly, they conducted ongoing teacher professional development training under the guidance of Ms. Lai Shan. Academic activities were led by different grade-level teams on a rotating basis. This included weekly sessions dedicated to the study of teaching theory. Teachers engaged in book sharing and routine mutual evaluations, fostering open communication among all staff members. These efforts aimed to standardize teachers' classroom behaviors. Bi-weekly teacher demonstration classes were also conducted, where the integration of theory and practice was emphasized. Utilizing an information platform for assessments, the visible growth of young teachers was tracked. In this month alone, four teachers within the group have conducted internal presentations, effectively promoting the enhancement of teaching standards. Secondly, the group has been actively advancing student-centered personalized classroom learning. Group collaborative learning has gradually become a common practice in most classes. Teachers tailored their teaching approaches based on students' cognitive development and consistently conducted formative assessments to help students become better learners. Lastly, teachers within the group introduced a distinctive mathematics thinking challenge course. This course encourages students to think critically, express themselves effectively, and summarize their findings. It caters to students with varying levels of thinking abilities and has significantly increased students' interest in learning. These personalized, small-group, collaborative, and sharing-oriented mathematics classes meet the learning needs of students at different levels, aligning with the principles of high-quality education at TAS.


九月是忙碌而充实的。除此之外,我们还进行了依法办学规范教学管理行为检查的校际互查,通过访问和被访问的形式来进一步完善规范课程教学、减轻学生学业负担、均衡配置教育资源、年度校历的执行情况以及课后服务工作。通过此次访问我们学习到了他校的工作亮点,为日后更好地开展工作提供了有效的信息。

September has been a busy and fulfilling month for us. In addition to our regular activities, we conducted inter-school inspections to ensure compliance with legal educational standards and proper teaching management practices. This involved both visiting other schools and being visited by them, with the aim of further improving curriculum instruction, reducing students' academic burdens, balancing the allocation of educational resources, assessing the execution of the annual school calendar, and evaluating post-school services. Through these visits, we had the opportunity to learn from the best practices of other schools, which will provide valuable  insights for our future endeavors.

在开学的第一个月里,更新音乐可谓是精彩连连。

In the first month of the new school year, the music department at TAS has been filled with excitement and achievements.

小学部一二年级的同学们有条不紊的开始了音乐专业理论知识的入门和歌唱实践其乐融融;三年级的同学们进入了更新特色国际音乐乐队课程的第一年,大家都在老师的带教下认识了接下去三到四年可能要学习的实践管乐乐器,各自尝试了所有的吹嘴,从教十五年的老师根据每个孩子自身的身体条件建议了最为适合他们的实践乐器;四五年级的同学们复习了演奏的技法和去年学习的音乐理论与不同音乐时期的知识;初中部的同学们也相应的进入到了各自的理论与音乐时期中去学习。今年从一到九年级,每一位学生都用上了更新音乐部自主撰写的课本,希望大家好好保存!

In the first month of the new school year, the music department at TAS has been filled with excitement and achievements. In terms of teaching, students from grades one and two in the elementary school have systematically started their journey into music theory and singing practice, making harmonious progress in their studies. Third-grade students have embarked on their first year of the distinctive international music ensemble course, where they have been introduced to the practical brass instruments they may study for the next three to four years. Under the guidance of our experienced teachers, each student has tried different mouthpieces, and recommendations have been made based on their individual physical conditions to identify the most suitable instruments for them. This year, from first to ninth grade, every student has started using the TAS textbooks created by the Music Department. We hope everyone will take good care of them!

此外,每一支校队都在为马上到来的校庆周演出做着忙碌的准备,值得一提的是在新学期中,更新音乐部的老师们为大家布置了学校的音乐角,并在每周五给大家准备了香醇可口的“音乐早茶”,同学和老师们在进校之余也可以驻足欣赏哦。 

In addition, each school team has been busy preparing for the upcoming school anniversary week performances. Notably, in the new semester, the teachers in the music department at TAS have set up a dedicated music corner for everyone and prepared a delightful "Music Busking" every Friday. Students and teachers can enjoy these musical interludes during breaks.

学校为了更好的落实“学生每天户外活动1小时”特别委派体育组负责组织全校上午大课间户外体育活动。更新体育组结合全校体育设施及活动场地并以安全、有序、趣味、锻炼为目标进行了统一规划做了以下安排:

In order to better implement the "1-hour outdoor activity for students every day," the school has specially appointed the Physical Education Department to organize outdoor sports activities for the entire school during the morning recess. The TAS Physical Education Department has conducted unified planning based on the school's sports facilities and activity areas, with a focus on safety, order, fun, and exercise, and has made the following arrangements:

1.  体育组在校长们的支持下参加全校班主任会议与班主任一起进行讨论沟通大课间活动计划,解答大家问题,保证每位班主任知晓并了解这项全校性的活动是如何开展,做到班主任知晓,并与体育老师互相配合,保证户外大课间活动顺利开展。

1. The sports department, with the support of the principals, participated in a school-wide homeroom teachers' meeting to discuss and communicate the plan for outdoor activities during the long break with homeroom teachers. They answered questions and ensured that every homeroom teacher was aware of and understood how this school-wide activity would be conducted. This was done to ensure that homeroom teachers were informed and could coordinate with the physical education teachers, ensuring a smooth start to outdoor activities during the trial period.

This is to ensure that students from each class can avoid overcrowding and stampede incidents in the hallways.

为了更好的开展体育课,保证课程质量及体育老师持续提升业务能力,体育组每周一上午8:20-9:00开展“体育组老师教研活动”,教研活动中老师们进行每周轮流教案分享、模拟课示范、听课评课、活动方案讨论,大家各抒己见头脑风暴为的是提升课程质量,真正的把体育教育落到实处,老师之间取长补短互相学习,最终让我们的学生在课堂上受益。

To enhance the delivery of physical education classes, ensure the quality of the curriculum, and continuously improve the teaching abilities of physical education teachers, the sports department conducts a "Physical Education Teacher Research and Development Activity" every Monday morning from 8:20 to 9:00. During these research and development sessions, physical education teachers take turns each week to share lesson plans, conduct simulated teaching demonstrations, participate in peer observations and evaluations, and discuss activity plans. These activities encourage open discussion and brainstorming to enhance the quality of the curriculum and ensure the practical implementation of physical education. Teachers learn from each other, identifying strengths and weaknesses, ultimately benefiting our students in the classroom.

为迎接新生入学以及新学年开学仪式,美术组设计了开学迎新布置,为学生提供了温馨愉快的开学体验。本次设计以“蓝色·海洋”为主题,寓意着学生们即将在在知识的海洋里乘风破浪,勇往直前。带着自己对知识的渴望与热情进入新学期。 

To welcome new students and celebrate the beginning of the new school year, the art department has designed a welcoming decoration with the theme of "Blue Ocean." This design symbolizes that students are about to embark on a journey in the ocean of knowledge, ready to face challenges and move forward with enthusiasm into the new semester.

本月美术组举办了2023“阳光天使”杯绘画比赛,以“阳光·绿色”为主题的绘画比赛,本次绘画比赛将把校内优秀作品选送到浦东新区参加区级绘画。期待看到学生们优秀的绘画作品!

This month, the art department organized the 2023 "Sunshine Angel" Cup painting competition, with the theme of "Sunshine Green." Outstanding artworks from the school competition will be selected to represent our school at the district-level painting competition in Pudong New Area. We look forward to seeing the excellent artwork created by our students! 

为响应更新十周年“校庆”活动,向全校学生征集“环保时装秀”小模特,鼓励学生使用“环保”材质装饰和设计属于自己的“环保服饰”,对于入选初赛的小模特们,将会在校庆周上向全校师生展示自己的设计成果!期待看到小模特们的精彩展示! 

In response to the school's 10th-anniversary celebration, we are calling for "Environmental Fashion Show" young models from the entire school. We encourage students to use eco-friendly materials to decorate and design their own "environmentally friendly clothing." Selected models from the preliminary rounds will showcase their design achievements to the entire school during the anniversary celebration week. We can't wait to see the fantastic displays by these young models!

喜迎中秋佳节,学生们创作了中秋主题绘画作品来,进行了校园内的设计和装饰,为学校增加了一丝传统节日的氛围和元素。 

As we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, students have created Mid-Autumn-themed artworks to decorate our campus, adding a touch of traditional festival atmosphere and elements to the school.


升学指导 / Graduation Counseling

9月开始,学校升学指导中心针对中学部的学长学姐们有序开展了一系列升学指导工作,包括一对一需求沟通、提供申请辅导、职业规划咨询、学术建议以及提供信息和资源。升导老师们与学生家长一起确定申请方案,制定申请时间节点,进行全方位的准备,以帮助学生们做出明智的升学决策,助力他们的申请。

Starting from September, TAS Graduation Center systematically conducted a series of college guidance activities for the senior students in the secondary division. These activities included one-on-one needs assessment, providing application counseling, career planning consultations, academic advice, and offering information and resources. Together with students' parents, we worked to define application strategies, set application deadlines, and comprehensively prepared to assist students in making informed decisions about their further education and to support their applications.

开学以来,孩子们逐渐地都进入了学习状态,学校升学指导中心也正在井然有序地规划着大家的求学之路。在这个信息爆炸的时代,一路上充斥着各种声音,面对一个不确定的世界,我们该如何规划和准备,以最大助力孩子们的未来?为了给大家提供实际帮助,我们发起了升学答疑Q&A活动,定期收集学生和家长关于申请大学、专业方向、留学签证政策等方面的问题,发布Q&A,为家长们答疑解惑。欢迎大家积极提问~让我们家校合力,一同助力孩子们的升学之路。

Since the beginning of the school year, the students have gradually settled into their study routines, and the TAS Graduation Center is systematically planning everyone's educational journey. In this age of information overload, our path is filled with various voices, and facing an uncertain world, how should we plan and prepare to maximize our children's future? To provide practical assistance, we have initiated a Q&A event, where we regularly collect questions from students and parents regarding university applications, career directions, study visa policies, and more. We will publish Q&A sessions to address these inquiries and provide clarity for parents. We welcome everyone's active participation in asking questions, and together, let's support our children's educational journey through the collaborative efforts of home and school.

我校中学部外教Chris James老师获得了来自美国大学理事会College Board的AP 2D Art & Design课程教学认证。这将为更新的AP教育体系增添更多的专业知识和能力,为学生提供更丰富的学术体验。这门AP课程旨在培养学生在二维视觉艺术领域的创造力、技能和批判性思维。通过这门课程,学生将有机会探索各种艺术媒介,包括绘画、摄影、平面设计等,以及不同的艺术表达方式,从而更好地展示他们的创造力和艺术天赋。恭喜Chris James老师,我们期待着在他的指导下,学生在AP 2D Art & Design领域取得卓越的成就!

Our secondary school teacher, Mr. Chris James, has received teaching certification for the AP 2D Art & Design course from the College Board in the United States. This certification will bring additional expertise and capabilities to our TAS AP education system, providing students with a more enriching academic experience. The AP 2D Art & Design course aims to cultivate students' creativity, skills, and critical thinking in the field of two-dimensional visual arts. Through this course, students will have the opportunity to explore various art mediums, including painting, photography, graphic design, and various forms of artistic expression, enabling them to better showcase their creativity and artistic talents. Congratulations to Mr. Chris James, and we look forward to seeing our students achieve outstanding accomplishments in the field of AP 2D Art & Design under his guidance!


9月23日,澳大利亚数学测评AMC在我校举行,共计70名学生在校参加了考试。本次考试成绩预计在11月中下旬公布。澳洲AMC目前是全球最大、历史最悠久的校际数学测评活动之一,全球共有来自32个国家和地区的1600多万学生参与到该活动,新颖的题型和多语言试题让全球的数学爱好者们得以在数学领域深刻切磋、共同学习,并深刻认识数学在生活中的重要性。

On September 23rd, the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) was held at our school, with a total of 70 students participating in the exam. The results of this exam are expected to be announced in mid to late November. The AMC in Australia is currently one of the largest and longest-standing inter-school mathematics assessment activities globally, with over 16 million students participating from 32 countries and regions worldwide. The innovative question formats and multilingual test papers allow math enthusiasts from around the world to engage in profound mathematical discussions, learn together, and gain a deep understanding of the importance of mathematics in everyday life.


9月22日,我校进行了中学部学生会的换届选举,选出2023-24学年学生会的领导团队。他们将负责组织各种校内外活动、代表学生发声,促进学校社区的发展。后续,学生会领导团队将会面向8-9年级招募各部门干事负责组织学校各类活动,培养新兴干事作为将来核心领导团队储备,代表各年级同学们的同时,维护学校秩序和社区精神。学生会将与学校管理层合作,确保学生的声音被听到并得到重视。 

On September 22nd, our school held the election for the Student Council in the secondary division, selecting the leadership team for the 2023-24 academic year. They will be responsible for organizing various school and off-campus activities, representing students' voices, and promoting the development of the school community. In the coming months, the Student Council leadership team will recruit department officers from Grade 8-9 to organize various school activities and nurture emerging officers as future core leadership team reserves. They will represent students from all grades while maintaining school order and community spirit. The Student Council will collaborate with the school administration to ensure that students' voices are heard and given due consideration.

参与学生会可以为学生提供许多有益于升学的机会和经验。大学招生官员通常看重学生是否具备领导和团队合作能力,学生会通常参与社区服务和志愿活动,这可以增加学生的社会责任感和团队合作能力,可以在升学材料中展示学生的积极参与和社会影响力。我们鼓励同学们积极参与学生会后续的成员招募。

Participating in the student council can provide students with many beneficial opportunities and experiences for college admissions. College admissions officers typically value whether students possess leadership and teamwork abilities. Student councils often engage in community service and volunteer activities, which can enhance students' sense of social responsibility and teamwork skills. These experiences can be showcased in college application materials to demonstrate a student's active involvement and societal impact. We encourage students to actively participate in the upcoming student council member recruitment process.
