全新的学期在龙年⼆⽉揭开序幕。经过⼏周的休憩,我们欢乐的学校⽣活再次开启!我们欣慰地看到,更新的孩子们在这段时间里展现出了极佳的学习状态。他们以责任为主题,用心对待学业,表现出对学习的认真态度和积极努力的精神。

A whole new semester begins in February of the Year of Dragon. Our happy school life relaunches after weeks’ rest! We are delighted to observe that TAS children have exhibited an excellent learning attitude during this period. They have embraced the theme of responsibility, approaching their studies with dedication and showcasing a serious commitment and enthusiastic spirit towards learning.

Taking on responsibility is not a solitary task; the school will always be by your side, offering support and assistance. 学术 / Academics

新学期的课堂充满着活力和希望。语文组的老师们将主导权交给学生,以小组的方式进行教学,学生们在学习知识的过程中也发展了合作以及沟通的能力。

The classrooms of the new semester are filled with vitality and hope. The Chinese language teachers have handed over the leadership to the students, conducting teaching in groups. This approach not only facilitates the learning process but also enhances students' abilities in cooperation and communication.

孩子们在数学课堂以饱满的精神面貌、积极进取的学习态度和活跃的思维沉浸其中,孩子们在数学课堂踊跃发言充当小讲师,个人能力得到提升的同时创造了同伴学习的机会;组内、外解决问题孩子们比之前更灵活,不仅在更新家园可以学到知识,更是增长了思维能力和解决问题的能力。

TAS Children are fully engaged in mathematics classes with spirited energy, proactive learning attitudes, and active thinking. They enthusiastically speak up in math class, acting as "little teachers," which not only enhances their individual abilities but also creates opportunities for peer learning. They are more flexible in solving problems both within and outside their groups, gaining not only knowledge but also enhancing their thinking and problem-solving skills.

更新的数学教师队伍始终坚持淡化形式、注重实质,紧抓数学思维过程、深入数学本质,践行以学生为主题的开放式课堂,鼓励学生自主探究以及尊重和保护每个学生的个体差异,孩子们在数学课上深刻体会到是不断受到鼓舞的氛围,更是老师与孩子们思维火花碰撞的美妙时刻。

TAS mathematics teaching team consistently adheres to the principle of "downplaying formalities and focusing on substance," by grasping the mathematical thinking process and delving into the essence of mathematics. They practice an "open classroom centered on students," encouraging students to explore independently and respecting and protecting each student's individual differences. In mathematics classes, children deeply feel the inspiring atmosphere, and it becomes a wonderful moment when sparks of thinking collide between teachers and students.

TAS mathematics team has implemented the educational concept of "dual innovation" education reform, not only refining the overall teaching work in research, but also emphasizing interaction and discussion among teachers, thus significantly improving teaching quality. 音体美 / Music, PE, and Art

第二学期开学的第一周,一到九年级的同学都有序回顾了第一学期所学的理论与实践的知识和技能,在更新音乐体系中每一位学生都会学习到五线谱、音符、音程和和弦等理论知识,同时也会学习五大音乐时期中前三个的音乐历史背景、著名作曲家及作品;到了中学会继续研习更深入的音乐实践能力、音乐理论和史论。

In the first week of the second semester, students from grades one to nine systematically reviewed the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills acquired in the first semester. As part of the TAS music curriculum, each student will learn theoretical concepts such as staff notation, musical notes, intervals, and chords. Additionally, they will delve into the historical background, renowned composers, and works of the first three musical periods. As students progress to secondary school, they will continue to explore more advanced practical musical skills, music theory, and music history and criticism.

更新音乐团队以及所有学生都已经开始为六月份的音乐汇演积极准备,本次音乐汇演有丰富多样的舞蹈、歌唱及乐团,大家可以尽情期待!

Simultaneously, all students and the music team have already begun active preparations for the music showcase scheduled for June. The showcase will feature diverse performances, including dance, singing, and orchestral presentations, promising an exciting experience for everyone.

开学第一周每位体育老师对各班开展了开学第一课课程,通过安全教育、规则讲解及学期综合评分讲解对新学期体育课提出了要求,帮助学生了解本学期体育课各项要求,再通过开学第一周的恢复课程,循序渐进逐步恢复学生的体能,帮助学生从心理到身体能快速恢复达到日常体育课训练要求。

During the first week of the new school semester, each physical education teacher conducted the "First Lesson" for their respective classes. They provided instructions on safety, explained rules, and outlined the comprehensive grading criteria for the upcoming semester's physical education classes. This aimed to help students understand the requirements for the semester and, through the introductory week, gradually restore students' physical fitness, progressing step by step from psychological to physical recovery, ensuring they quickly meet the demands of regular physical education training.

开学第二周全校开展大课间春季长跑活动,进一步促进学生体能的恢复,帮助各班加强团队建设。 

In the second week of the new semester, the entire school starts to have a large break-time event, the "Spring Running,” further promoting the recovery of students' physical fitness. This initiative also assisted classes in strengthening team-building activities.


德育 / Character

龙行春风里,热辣滚烫新学期。开学典礼在明媚的春光里拉开了序幕。九年级的学生们主持了第一次升旗仪式。中方学术校长钟玉文女士和外方学术校长Mr. Shackleford为同学们送上了最真诚的祝福和新学期的展望。在升旗仪式上,九年级的孙一凡同学为全校师生带来了主题演讲。她分享了假期生活,畅谈了她对新学期的展望。

In the breeze of spring, the new semester kicks off with fervor and excitement. The opening ceremony took place under the radiant sunshine. Students from the G9 presided over the first flag-raising ceremony. The Chinese Academic Principal Ms. Zhong and Mr. Shackleford, the Foreign Academic Principal, extended their sincerest blessings and hopes for the new semester to the students. During the flag-raising ceremony, Fiona Sun, a ninth-grade student, delivered a keynote speech to the entire school. She shared her holiday experiences and expressed her hopes for the new semester.

孙一凡同学说:新的学期已经开始了,这是我们9年级学生初中生活的最后一个学期。面对中考的挑战,我们应该怀揣梦想,努力前行。我相信,只要我们勤奋、拼搏、团结、进取,就一定能够取得优异的成绩,进入心仪的学校,为我们的初中生活画上一个圆满的句号。让我们一起珍惜剩下的时光,以更加饱满的热情投入到学习中去。我们不仅要掌握知识,更要培养自己的能力和品格。相信我们都能在未来的日子里,展现出更加优秀的自己!

Fiona said: " The new semester has begun, marking the final semester of our junior high school life for us ninth-grade students. Facing the challenge of the high school entrance examination, we should cherish our dreams and strive forward. I believe that if we are diligent, hardworking, united, and enterprising, we will surely achieve excellent results, enter our desired schools, and conclude our junior high school life satisfactorily. Let us cherish the remaining time and immerse ourselves in learning with even greater enthusiasm. We should not only acquire knowledge but also cultivate our abilities and characters. 新的学期,我们遵循学校的办学理念,为实现学校的育人目标,提高班主任队伍的管理、育人水平,我们开展了班主任培训。

In the new semester, adhering to the school's educational philosophy and aiming to achieve the school's educational goals while enhancing the management and educational levels of homeroom teachers, we conducted homeroom teacher training.

首先,我们每个年级的班主任针对年级学生的身心发展特点展开了分享和讨论。中方学术校长钟玉文女士做了做一名幸福的班主任专题讲座,特别强调做班主任需要具有四心爱心、耐心、宽容心、责任心  

Firstly, each grade's homeroom teachers conducted sharing and discussions based on the developmental characteristics of the students in their respective grades. Ms. Zhong, delivered a special lecture titled "Being a Happy Teacher," emphasizing the four essential qualities of being a homeroom teacher: "love, patience, tolerance, and responsibility."

围绕此次主题,徐宏玲、周雯、李珍三位老师也结合自己教育经验分别从职业情感、育人案例、治班策略三个方面做了专题分享。九年级班主任徐宏玲老师的分享,令在座的每一位班主任老师受益匪浅,大家纷纷表达了敬意与感动。在此摘要分享徐老师的演讲片段,相信您也会被深深地感动。

Centered around this theme, teacher Ms. Xu Hongling, Ms. Zhou Wen, and Ms. Li Zhen each shared their expertise and experiences from the perspectives of professional emotions, educational cases, and classroom management strategies. The sharing by Ms. Xu deeply benefited every homeroom teacher present, evoking expressions of respect and admiration. Here is a summary of Xu's speech, which we believe will also deeply touch you. 

徐宏玲老师说:有实效的德育,是能够融入学生血脉、内化为孩子品格和习惯的德育,是孩子离校后经岁月遴选仍能被留下来的德育,是能够影响学生一生的德育。

She said: "Effective moral education is one that can integrate into students' blood, internalize into their character and habits, and can withstand the test of time even after they leave school. It is moral education that can influence students for a lifetime.

班集体,是孩子健康成长的一方沃土。我从来都把我教的班级,看作是一个大家庭。无论老师,还是孩子,都是这个家庭中的一员,营造一个温馨、和谐的家庭是我的工作目标。我首先着手把孩子从受教育者转化成一个自我教育者,让孩子做班级的主人。而班主任的自身素质,道德修养,班主任的一言一行,一举一动,无形之中会成为全班几十个孩子的榜样。

The class collective is fertile soil for children's healthy growth. I have always regarded the classes I teach as one big family. Whether teachers or children, everyone is a member of this family, and creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere is my job goal. My first step is to transform children from being recipients of education into self-educators, empowering them to take ownership of the class. The homeroom teacher's own qualities and moral cultivation, as well as their every word and action, inevitably become examples for dozens of children in the class.

因此,在班级工作中我时刻注意自身形象,事事从我做起,以良好的形象率先垂范,潜移默化地影响孩子。平时,凡要求孩子做到的,我首先做到。如班里总是会有一些孩子随手丢垃圾,而且别的孩子看见也视而不见;放学后课桌上没有整理干净就回家了。我没有批评孩子,而是选择每当看到地上有垃圾时就动手捡起来或者拿扫把扫起来,结果丢垃圾的孩子就渐渐少了。我的办公桌一直保持整洁干净,让孩子们知道一个舒适的环境首先是整洁。现在放学后的教室整洁干净,每个来打扫的阿姨总会夸我们班太干净了,她们省力多了。

Therefore, in my work with the class, I always pay attention to my own image, leading by example in everything I do, and subtly influencing the children. In everyday situations, whatever I ask the children to do, I do it first. For example, there are always some children in the class who casually litter, and other children turn a blind eye when they see it; they leave without tidying up their desks after school. Instead of criticizing the children, I choose to pick up the trash or sweep whenever I see it on the ground. As a result, the number of children littering gradually decreased. My desk has always been kept clean and tidy, letting the children know that a comfortable environment starts with cleanliness. Now, after school, the classroom is clean and tidy, and every cleaning auntie who comes by always praises our class for being so clean, saying they have less work to do.

其次,拥有一颗孩子心,就能够理解孩子。而理解孩子常常是我们教育孩子的开始。世界上最遥远的距离就是我一心为了你好,可是你却以为我要伤害你。师生之间的关系说到底是人与人之间的关系,所以尊重和真诚要放在第一位。也许在与孩子相处时我们费尽心血终究颗粒无收,但是只要真心待他,若干年后他回忆起你时,定然没有怨恨,只有暖意。 

Next, having a childlike heart allows us to understand children. Understanding children is often the beginning of educating them. The furthest distance in the world is when I wholeheartedly want what's best for you, but you think I'm trying to hurt you. The relationship between teachers and students is ultimately a human relationship, so respect and sincerity should come first. Perhaps in our interactions with children, we may exert a lot of effort with little visible result, but if we treat them sincerely, when they recall us years later, they will surely feel warmth instead of resentment.

最后,谈谈自己,做一个快乐幸福的老师。其实,做一个快乐幸福的老师不是一个规划就能解决的。因为我知道先有快乐幸福的教师,才会有快乐幸福的学生。没有人能将自己没有的东西给别人,只有快乐的教师才能教出快乐的学生,只有幸福的教师才能教出幸福的学生。

Finally, let's talk about ourselves and being a happy and fulfilled teacher. Actually, being a happy and fulfilled teacher is not something that can be solved through planning alone. Because I know that only when there are happy and fulfilled teachers, can there be happy and fulfilled students. No one can give others what they don't have themselves. Only happy teachers can teach happy students, and only fulfilled teachers can teach fulfilled students.”
